Can Trainer Kites Be Fitted With Harness Loops?

by Jane
(USA)

I'm 55 year old female, and want to try a trainer before jumping into full kiteboard equipment.

Question: Can trainer bars be fitted with chicken loops to learn harness and starting skills?

Suggestions, comments ??

Thanks for your great site !!

Jane

They Sure Can.

Hi Jane,

The answer to your question is...absolutely!

If you have a harness and harness loop, you can certainly put it on your trainer kite. It's something that I do if I want to snowkite in high winds in the middle of the winter.

You can use this setup to practice steering one handed (while hooked in to the harness) and it helps you get used to the feel of being hooked in. If you have the harness and loop, it's a valuable thing to practice.

One thing to keep in mind though is to make sure that you use a harness loop that has a quick release on it. You'll need to be able to quickly and safely release the loop if you ever become overpowered, since you don't want to be strapped to an out of control kite.

Thanks for your question, and I hope this helps!

Yes

Yes, they totally can. Use a windsurfing harness loop on the bar for ease.

Thanks,
